The Dirty B Vagabond Signature sounds as heavy as a ton of bricks while only weighing about 3 kilos. Really love the guitar - great sound, great shape and accurate tuners as well. The only thing bothering me is some slight fret snarl from the factory setting (easily rectified) and an oddly deformed side dot on the 12th fret. It‘s a great thing they included a V-shaped case, even though I lost one of the small rubber feet the first time I actually used it. Just tighten those screws and you‘ll be fine!
Always wanted a Flying V since I began playing roughly 35 years ago, for what ever reason my V never materialized until now, and the wait was worth it. Beautiful guitar, beautiful feel, beautiful noise. Couldn’t be happier. Customer service and shipping was outstanding. Thanks so much.
Sounds, plays, and looks awesome. Can't see why someone would pay the a little less, the same, or more for bigger brands. Aside from a minor QC issue that Woodrite made right by this customer quickly, I have no complaints.
I have bought tons of guitars over my 25 years of playing. This has got to be one of the best guitars directly out of the box I've ever owned! The guitar plays as good as it looks the graph tech nut combined with the stainless steel frets make playing this guitar a dream! Pick ups sound great and just overall quality is great. Very happy with my purchase and oh yea the grover tunners are super reliable!
Positives: The Vagabond is a visually stunning guitar. The neck is comfortable to play, and the pickups sound great.
Negatives: The mahogany body sounds hollow or chambered. The guitar body has a strange resonance when played. It feels odd to play compared to other solid mahogany body guitars I own. It makes the guitar feel cheap.
The guitar had a few paint defects, including the binding from frets 12-19 and around the neck pickup mounting plate. There was also a minor scratch under the lacquer near the bridge pickup. These defects were minor but noticeable.
The mastoglyph inlays were the only visual aspect of the guitar I didn't like. They don't look uniform. For example, the third-fret inlay is horizontal, whereas the first and fifth inlays are vertical. Then, the inlays stop at the twelfth fret (I assume due to the size of the graphic). I would have preferred block inlays on the entire fretboard and one mastoglyph inlay on the truss rod cover or the back of the headstock.
I would have liked to see locking tuners at this price point.
The plastic pickguard cover was a nightmare to remove. It was stuck fast, and I had to remove the volume and tone knobs to peel off all the plastic.
Overall, the guitar looks great, but had I thoroughly tested it and not removed the plastic in the first 7 days, I would have returned it. I love Mastodon. I love Brent. And I love Woodrite guitars. But the Vagabond misses the mark for me.
Sorry.
