from 112 reviewsThis is a professional instrument worth every penny. Craftsmanship shows through.
The serpent burst finish has so much character. The Firespitter pickups are amazing. Very impressed with the deep tones out of the neck pickup. The paired high strings are otherworldly.
The Switchblade HT comes set up in C standard right out of the case, and that immediately sets the tone: this guitar is built for heavy music. Doom, sludge, big crushing metal, it feels at home there from the first chord.
In terms of overall quality, it easily stands next to much more expensive big-name brands. You can tell this isn't a budget instrument trying to look high-end.
It ships in a hardcase, properly set up and ready to play. No need for an immediate trip to a tech before enjoying it, which is always a good sign.
The Black Satin finish is especially well done : understated, classy, but with that dark and aggressive vibe that fits the guitar perfectly. It looks great without trying too hard.
The neck is the biggest highlight for me.
Upper fret access is excellent, with zero struggle. It has enough thickness to feel solid for heavy riffing, but it's still fast. You can go from crushing riffs to lead or shred without fighting the instrument.
Tuning stability is rock-solid, even with hard picking and big bends.
The Barbarian humbuckers really deliver.
Clean tones are clear and usable. With gain, they shine : strong output, tight response, and most importantly, a low end that stays defined. Even under high gain or thick fuzz, the sound doesn't turn to mud.
This is clearly a guitar made for heavy styles. Metal, doom, sludge, that's where it excels.
But it doesn't box you into one style. If you're into fast leads or technical playing, it keeps up just fine.
A serious instrument, built to handle low tunings, high volume, and real-world playing.
Amazing!
Looks amazing, sounds amazing, my son playing metal is great to hear. Listening to him play electric wizard on this - well it doesn't get any better.
Bass is absolutely beautiful and i cant wait ti tear up a stage with her.
Another great quality product from Woodrite. The build quality is way beyond the price they ask. Defintey a great value in the guitar and bass market.
I love thos bass ive played p-basses and my newest/nicest one is still a 20 year old parts build: old school emg select passives and wired by Jim Kramer, the Mechanic that built the original Bigfoot monster truck(his son was a good friend and wicked guitar player). Its nostalgia but it doesn't hold a fucking candle to this warlord, the tone is incredible, its balance is perfect, comfortable standing or sitting.
Im going to make this short and sweet. This guitar absolutely rules! From the paint to the binding to the pickups to the inlays, this guitar is pure class and a tone machine! The quality of this thing rivals even some of my USA custom shop guitars. I could not be more happy with my purchase. Thanks Woodrite Guitars and Does it Doom for making these 9 strings a reality!
I love it all so far, it's versatile as I hoped. It can still easily turn into mean machine as needed.
Got this guitar for my husband’s Christmas gift this year. He’s been a huge fan of Woodrite guitars + Mr. Does it Doom for a bit now. Could not have chosen a better gift for him. 10/10.
Clearly a well made guitar
What a marvel! This guitar is absolutely killer, there's really nothing negative to say, everything is perfect: aesthetics, playability, sound, finish... I'm thrilled! I now have two favorite guitars, the Warlord and my '81 LPC! Steve really did a great job! I think my next one will definitely be a Vagabond.
Love it
Absolutely top notch craftsmanship. Got this as a present for my buddy. He absolutely loves it.
I’d been eyeing the Woodright Warlord for quite some time. I already own about half a dozen guitars that I use for live shows, so I didn’t see much need to add another — until the neck on my custom Les Paul broke.
Normally, I never buy a guitar without playing it first, so I was definitely skeptical about ordering one online. But I have to say… I couldn’t be happier with this guitar. The build quality is outstanding, and the playability right out of the case was incredible. It arrived in C standard tuning; I play in Drop B, and the transition was absolutely seamless.
Then came the real test — the tone. Once I plugged it in, I was blown away. I received the Warlord on a Thursday afternoon and immediately started bonding with it. At one point during that first week, I caught myself saying out loud, “It’s almost like this guitar was made for me and my style of music.” Then I realized — of course, it was.
I played my Warlord at a show that following Saturday, and it has already become one of my favorite guitars. I love it so much that I’m planning to get a second one (Purple teardrop burst?)
I can’t recommend the Woodright Warlord highly enough.
